    Depends on a lot.

What are you hunting, and what are you hunting with? I’ll fire on average one shot at deer but 3-10 small game hunting.

I hunt after work, and before it sometimes. So my hunting trips are measured in hours. But I know people that go away from anywhere between overnight to 2 weeks.

How many bullets?… You only need one for each game animal you harvest…. In reality most folks have a couple of boxes in the truck…. 20 rounds is the average in each box for rifle, 5 for shotgun slugs and 25 in a box for game loads……

How long?…. In my area in upstate New york there is an abundance of game and places to hunt…. My friends and myself usually are out for 1 day only, sometimes 2…. Other associates of mine go to the Adirondack Mountains and stay 4 to 6 days…… There is really no limit…. My 3 buddy’s that go to the mountains I suspect are just using hunting as an excuse to get away from their nag wives…. But they do bring the game home…..

My usual trips are between three and five days.

Ideally you only use one round per animal, sometimes it takes two but that is often the result of poor judgment. One well placed appropriately sized bullet will drop an animal.

How many do I use? Well, that depends on what I’m shooting. Deer, preferably one. Squirrels, one each but I can get a lot more squirrels in a day than deer. Coyotes? One or two, sometimes three if they are really determined. One usually does it though.

Even though I don’t use a lot of bullets I bring a few boxes of each. I usually sight in before I get where I am going.

two box 20rds each is good, you usually only use half a box or less

You only need one….two if you’re a terrible shot.

The type of hunting and the situation of the hunter vary so widely there’s no way to answer. I’ve taken a walk out my back door for an hour’s hunt, and I’ve headed to my cabin in the woods and hunted from there for over three months before heading back into “civilization.” Obviously on the short trip I didn’t worry about how much ammunition I carried. On the longer ones, there’s always the possibility of having to re-zero the scope, and the answer about “a couple of boxes” is a little conservative in that situation. The bag limit on squirrels may be eight a day, where one deer is enough, so the former requires more ammunition than the latter.

For large game, if you are going after one animal, five bullets should be more than enough.

Unfortunately, I hunt in the most crime ridden National Forest in America.

I carry a lot of extra bullets, but not for hunting.

Depends on what I am hunting,

Dove, a full case of 12 and 20 gage, I usually end up trading a few boxes for sodas and snacks

Quail, turkey, 1 box 20 gage, one dozen arrows

Rabbit, fox, bobcat 1 box 22, or 1 box 20 gauge, one dozen arrows

Coyote, 1 box .223, one dozen arrows

Deer, antelope 1 box 30-30, 1 box 270, 12 rounds 20 gage slugs, one dozen arrows

Elk, Bear, wild boar, 1 box 45-70, a dozen arrows

Average trip lasts 2-3 days however preseason scouting 3 weeks a year

Firearms Target practice 4-5 days a year, weekly with archery. I usually go purchase ammo a day or two before practice or a hunting trip and shoot up all that I have I only keep hand gun ammo and shotgun ammo around the house for self defense and just enough to keep her locked and loaded ready. I am not worried about the zombie Apocalypse like a lotta folks on this venue.
