Roarin’ new engine and a lower price – what more could a guy want in a flashy new SUV? I can name a few things, but the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has them all and then some! Jeep Portage dealers are raving about the all-new Grand Cherokee and I can’t wait to take it for a drive! Positive changes abound and with its new 3.6-liter V-6 engine delivering 23 mpg, new Quadra-Lift Air Suspension and Selec-Terrain there are better levels of control. The exterior has been sculpted to be sleeker and the interior has four more inches of leg room, a big deal for a weekend with the guys.

Portage 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee customers will also appreciate the new independent front and rear suspensions and added safety and security features as well as top-of-the-line technology. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is in showrooms now and is priced at $32,995, $465 less than the outgoing model. The Laredo 4×2 model will start at $30,995.

The new body structure and suspension systems work together to reduce vibration and noise and provide a smoother ride. A duel-pane panoramic sunroof known as CommandView reaches from windshield to the rear of the SUV and will be perfect for enhancing weekend getaways or just letting in the sun on the way to the beach. With 17 percent more cargo room, the new Grand Cherokee will also hold all the gear we need to stuff in for the trip.

Fuel economy is up 11 percent from the previous model with one tank of gas getting you 500 miles down the road. Now, for those who say an SUV, especially a tricked-out model with a big price tag is not practical, they need to look at the numbers for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and recalculate. Jeep Portage buyers will also be impressed with the added security and safety features which include full-length side-curtain and seat-mounted air bags, Active Head Restraints, Hill-start Assist., Trailer-sway control, Electronic Stability Control, Electronic Roll Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward Collision Warning and a blind-spot/rear cross-path detection system. Three models will be available for Portage 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee customers. The Laredo comes in 4×2 and 4×4 with many of the above features included as standard. The Limited also comes 4×2 or 4×4 and has front and second-row heated leather seats, memory settings, Bi-Xenon High Intensity Discharge headlights with SmartBeam, Parkview rear back-up camera, Parksense rear assist, auto temperature control, 18-inch aluminum wheels, rain-sensitive wipers and Garmin navigation.

The Overland model adds a few more amenities with Nappa leather-trimmed and heated seats, vented front seats, wood steering wheel with leather wrapping and memory, power tilt, telescopic steering column, leather-stitched instrument panel, center console and doors, power liftgate, wood bezels, and 20-inch aluminum wheels.

That much-anticipated model we’ve been hearing about for months is here and Chrysler has announced pricing for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Customers of the Hoboken Jeep dealership will not be disappointed. It’s a family vehicle. It’s a sportsman’s dream. It’s something mom would love to drive to ball practice and dad would be proud to drive to the office. The only problem will be keeping those teenagers away from it.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee has roots that go back to the Grand Wagoneer and over four million Grand Cherokees have been sold to date. This model may add a million or so to that number once customers get a taste of it.

Prices will start, for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4×4 with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of $32,995. The Laredo 4×2 will begin at $30,995. Customers of Hackensack used car will be clamoring to get a look at these models.

The new Grand Cherokee retains the tough qualities of the Jeep with some added sophistication and a smoother on-road driving experience. There is a choice of three 4×4 systems, a new Jeep Quadra-Lift Air Suspension and new Selec-Terrain system and can tow up to 7,400 pounds. The 2011 model boasts a new body design that increases the torsional stiffness which reduces vibrations and noise.

With a new sculpted body and more athletic profile, this Grand Cherokee has better aerodynamics and features CommandView, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof stretching from windshield to the back of the vehicle. Interior space has increased by four inches for rear-seat leg room and this Jeep has 17 percent more room to pack in your stuff.

When it comes to fuel economy, the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is reaching 23 mpg and over 500 miles on a single tank – an 11 percent improvement over the old model. A 290-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 aids in these great mileage numbers. Hackensack used car dealers are impressed with these increases and know their customers will be too.

When it comes to safety, Jeep comes through again with more than 45 security and safety features available. Some of them include Active Head Restraints, Electronic Stability Control, full-length side curtain and seat-mounted air bags, Hill start Assist, Electronic Roll Mitigation, Blind-spot/Rear cross path detection system, Trailer-sway control, Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Warning.

Then there’s the available technology: SIRIUS Backseat TV and UConnect Web, live mobile TV, Garmin navigation, Satellite Radio, and many more. Luxury touches like a leather-wrapped steering wheel and four-way power lumbar adjust seat will appease the driver. This redesigned, must-have 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be manufactured at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit. The Hoboken Jeep dealership is waiting for you to come in and take a drive in this amazing ride.

When you think of the word accessories, what is it that you generally think of? You probably are like most people and think of something for looks, as in jewelry or a scarf. What if I were to ask you what you think of when it comes to vehicle accessories? Your answer could be non-essential light kits or spoilers. Now what about Jeep accessories? Jeep accessories have evolved throughout the years. The original jeep accessories were necessities for off road driving. These are not what today’s society would consider an accessory. New accessories are more for looks and detail than for function. To understand the olden day accessories, you must first look at how the use of these vehicles has changed.

When jeeps were first manufactured, they were made more for function than for looks or even comfort. The jeep was developed for the government as smaller all-terrain vehicle able to handle most anything. Because soldiers knew the abuse these vehicles would take out in the field, the major concern was not comfort. Durability and function were the mainstays. Mission accomplished. Because of this, accessories were not considered comfort items. They were considered items needed for duty.

Now that the jeep is being mass produced and is available to the public, accessories have changed all but completely. When you are shopping for “accessories” for jeeps, you will more than likely find things like designer wheels, light kits, lift kits, winches, and a variety of color options for soft tops. These days you can customize your jeep any way you like. You can install new fenders in different shaped whether it be curved or flat. Body armor is an option as well. Light guards can also add to the overall appearance of your jeep.

Times have certainly changed. The jeep accessories of the 1940s are different than those of the 2000s. These days, if you can imagine it, it can most likely be installed on your jeep. There are so many options available. Now you can enjoy your jeeps appearance as well as the good ol’ off road functionality.

Before you decide to close the door on the idea of your teen driving a Jeep, let’s explore some of the arguments, and some would say myths, about the safety of a Jeep. The biggest concern seems to be with rollover accidents. Jeeps, like most SUV’s, have a high center of gravity and oftentimes a narrower bottom half, making them more “tippy” than other vehicles. While vans, trucks and cars get a much better rap than SUV’s typically do, there are several factors that need to be considered when determining the safety of driving a Jeep.

Jeeps come off the assembly line in a form called “stock”. This essentially means “as is”. A stock Jeep is a Jeep that has not been altered in any way from the the design of the maufacturer. Many people add extra wide or tall tires, lifts and other alterations to their Jeep. This adds to the fun of off-roading, which is also a main reason for purchasing a Jeep. But here seems to be the crux of the matter; every vehicle has it’s own capacities and it’s own limitations. These need to be respected if we expect them to be safe. Keep in mind that a Jeep will not drive the same way a sports car drives or even a 4 door sedan. Jeeps are not meant to be driven at 50 miles per hour around a corner and they don’t zip in and out of traffic. The way you can drive a sports car would not be safe in a Jeep under any circumstances. The driver of the vehicle has the ultimate power in how safe a vehicle is. Most adults have the driving experience and common sense to know not to drive an SUV like a sports car.

Many concerned parents have said the roll bars on a Jeep don’t do much for protecting the occupants if that is all that surrounds them in a crash. When a vehicle goes through the safety crash test, generally this is done by ramming the vehicle into a concrete wall. How many accidents happen this way? Small cars that are hit head on or that are side-swiped tend to be totaled. If you were in a small car, or even a van or truck and were in a rollover accident there would likely be major damage to your vehicle. If you were in the same accident in a Jeep, those roll bars are in place for just that scenario.

In the end, Jeeps are not more dangerous than any other vehicle, as long as they are driven with respect to the purposes they were intended for. If you want to drive like a race car driver, than a Jeep is not the vehicle for you.

Mile Marker is a famous Jeep parts maker of electric and hydraulic winches for both OEM, aftermarket and military applications. They have been in business for nearly 30 years providing winches for 4×4 vehicles as well as applications for ATV and UTSs. Mile Marker’s main distribution plant and Jeep parts production facility for electric winches is situated in Washington, DC. Their other plant, where they produce drive-train parts and hydraulic winches, is located in sunny Pompano Beach, Florida. Mostly noted for winches, Mile marker started out in business manufacturing other Jeep parts, in particular, lock out hubs for a large variety of vehicles ranging from Jeep CJ 7s all the way to Toyota FJs.

Eric Planer, an employee at Morris 4×4 Center says, “Mounting a winch on your vehicle requires some aptitude and a little bit of heavy lifting. A few Jeep parts may be necessary to mount a winch. The smallest amount needed will be a winch mounting plate. These can be bolted to the front bumper of your vehicle or between the frame if you own a Jeep. Drilling may be needed to mount the plate. There are also Jeep parts companies out there who make front bumpers that have a channel built right into the bumper to mount a winch so a winch plate is not required. After you have the winch mounted some wiring will be needed. Wiring diagrams come with all winches. As an average (less the price of the winch) installation will fall between $100.00 – $600.00.”

There are seveal Jeep parts makers of electric and hydraulic winches besides Mile Marker. A very popular name in the Jeep parts industry is Warn. They offer a big variety of winches including types with air compressors attched to them. Another well-known Jeep parts maker is Smittybilt. The winches they build are more mild mannered for off road enthusiasts who are looking for a winch with one purpose in mind, recovery. One other key aspect that Smittybilt offers along with Mile Marker is a synthetic winch rope. Synthetic rope is a stable substitute to the benchmark steel cable because it doesn’t snap-off when it reaches its breaking point. In addition, for those on a budget, Jeep parts fabricator, Rugged Ridge, has some great products for those in demand of a winch, but who probably won’t be using it much. All of these manufacturers are superb. What makes Mile Marker rise to the top is the fact that they are produced in the United States of America and are used by our armed forces.

All off-roaders should purchase a stable winch. It’s essential for the proper recovery of a stuck vehicle. They are made to pull you up and over obstacles as well as assisting someone else who may be stuck. Not only can you recover vehicles, but these winches will assist you in pulling heavy, otherwise immovable objects off the path and out of everyone’s way. If you explore the wilderness solo a winch will help in the recovery of your vehicle from situations that without one would keep the vehicle stuck. In addition to improving the saving capabilities, a winch is one of the many Jeep parts and Jeep accessories that looks awesome on the front-end of your Jeep.

It’s a jeep thing; even if you don’t own a jeep, you know of the cult that surrounds the name. From spunky beach-town cruisers to rock crawling monsters, Jeeps are without a doubt the most capable and modifiable vehicles on the planet. If you’re curious about the different paths you can take with your jeep, then this guide is for you.

Let’s say you just picked up a canary yellow 4-door jeep from the local dealer. Heck, you probably got a great deal on it, considering the financial trouble that Chrysler is facing. You got the basic package, avoiding any over-priced dealer add-ons, but there are a couple things you are going to need to make the new Wrangler compliment your lifestyle.

First things first, get a top for it! Most Jeeps come without a roof, so unless you live on a warm tropical island that never sees any rain, you’ll need something to cover it up. There are a few different options and your choice will be driven the local climate. If you live in an area with 4 seasons, from sunshine to snowfall, you’ll want probably want a hard top. Jeep hard tops have better insulation and offer better vehicle security, but can be cumbersome to remove and store. If winters aren’t too harsh or you don’t drive that much in the winter, a soft top can suffice. Jeep soft tops are a better choice for most people as they can be removed by one person, are easily stored and offer fairly good protection from the elements. If you live in a climate that sees rainfall a few days of the year and are not worried about thieves stealing things out of your Jeep, a bikini top is your best choice. Jeep bikini tops share similar form and function to their bathing suit cousins; they offer maximum exposure while providing a little protection to those vital areas you don’t want to get sunburned. They are easy to store and even easier to install; tie one on and you’re ready for a day of fun in the sun.

If you choose to forgo a jeep top, you’ll definitely want to pick up a set of jeep seat covers. The sun can be a cruel mistress and her UV rays can destroy your seats in just a few short years. If you bought your Jeep used and the seats came sans-fabric, you might want to consider replacing them with an aftermarket set of jeep seats, specially designed to keep you and your occupants planted inside the cab. If your jeep came without doors, do yourself a favor and avoid a lawsuit by getting a pair of tubular jeep doors; they look cool, protect you from falling out and let you see any rocks that your tires might be grappling with. Speaking of tires, jeep suspension kits are a must have if you plan to do any amount off-roading. From front and rear diffs to lift kits and fender flares meant to house 35” mudders, the options are near limitless. If you plan to go on some big excursions, make sure to have a proper spare tire mount with an extra can of gas. The last thing you want is to be stranded in the wilderness stuck in a rut somewhere with a flat. If you do get stuck, at least make sure to have some tunes jamming to break the silence while you wait for backup. But let’s face it; Jeep did a half-arse job with their choice of stereo equipment. Those 4” dash speaker just don’t cut it if you drive a vehicle that is an open-air roof 99% of the time. You’re going to need some decent watts if you want to rock out proper. Jeep sound bars are a great way to direct crisp audio to your ears while utilizing the roll bar as a choice mounting location. Toss a sub in the back and you’re ready to walk up that Stairway to Heaven.

Jeep Commander is a product from the Jeep firm. Not to be outdone by its competitors, the Commander was released at the New York Vehicle Show. The year was 2005. The Commander steals the limelight from the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Fans and customers of Jeep vehicles had been complaining about the lack of a new SUV vehicle from Jeep. On its debut, the Commander looked different from the Grand Cherokee in distinct ways. First, the design style breaks away from the traditional style. Secondly, although the Commander is roughly the same size as the Grand Cherokee, it has more space and capacity than the Grand Cherokee.

Jeep is working hard to please its consumers. Todays car buyers have a lot of choice. There are a lot of competitors in seven-seat vehicles. Performance and looks are more important. It pays very well to fuse these two qualities. Especially on seven-seat vehicles. On the overall, customers will not be disappointed in the Jeep Commander. Coincidentally; the name ‘Commander’ is common among seven-seat car manufacturers. Maybe it sells.

Jeep is excited with its Jeep Commander vehicle. It remains to be seen how the Commander will perform against other SUVs. The Commander is also expected to perform better than its past models. The improvement in passenger space makes it unique. If this improvement translates into increased sales, Jeep will fulfil its mission. The Commander shares its name with two past models, the Studebaker Commander and the Scammell Commander.

When a Jeep Commander approaches around a corner, it attracts attention. Its boxy appearance is fascinating. One will think of the Commander as a military vehicle. The most interesting part of the Commander is its roof. The engineers designed the roof in a way which allows more head space at the rear. This feat is not easy to accomplish. Most SUV designers will avoid this at all costs because it gives the vehicle a cumbersome look. Jeep managed to overcome this problem by covering the roof grids and reducing the sharpness of corners.

Jeep is looking towards the future. The unveiling of the Jeep Commander is a turning point between the past and the future. The Commander represents the present. It is a working model on how future models should be designed. The engineers of the Commander used the eternal appearance of the old Jeep Wagoner and the performance requirements of the Grand Cherokee to produce a new model. The Commander has characteristics of these two vehicles. However; the Commander has its own unique features which dominate the entire vehicle.

We haven’t started discussing the Jeep Commander, until we talk about engine power. The Commander comes with three choices of engines. These are the V6 and two types of V8 engines. The first V8 engine has a capacity of 5. 7 liters. The second V8 engine has a capacity of 3. 7 liters. This engine package is convenient for different types of consumers. Types of drivers ranging from speed maniacs, rough terrain travellers and luggage packers will find it easy to select the proper engine. A note to speed lovers, the Commander is not made for speed though.

The Jeep Commander is a medium sized vehicle that satisfies the needs of SUVdrivers. Drivers of small SUVs are frustrated by the limited carrying capacity and large fuel consumption of small SUVs. Drivers of large SUVs are frustrated by the truck-like behaviour and large fuel consumption of large SUVs. Big SUVs don’t behave like ordinary petrol vehicles. They can be noisy and are not capable of smooth driving.

The Jeep Commander has not broken a record. The critics say. True, there is no new feature on the Commander, but it has succeeded in bringing affordability, economy, style and comfort on one plate. There is a market for this kind of vehicle, especially in this recession. A lot of SUVs on the market do not provide this convenience. The Commander came late on the scene. Jeep explains that the delay was due to specific refinements. Refinements on capacity and passenger seating. Sure, its hard to provide comfort on a seven passenger seat vehicle, but Jeep succeeded in this regard.

Spectators are waiting for the release of the next Commander. Jeep will be anxious to add new features to keep ahead of its competitors. The Jeep Commander 2007 model sports cool features in the form of platinum accents. This model is the Jeep Commander Overland. The Commander Overland looks like the Grand Cherokee. Platinum additions are visible on the side moulds; side roof railings, grilles and rear assist handling. Jeep also plans to introduce power lift gates for its Commander model. The Jeep Commander is one of the top vehicles searched by consumers on the internet.

Annual sales of the Jeep Commander have not been impressive. Jeep recorded a poor performance on its Commander model in February 2007. The Commander sales went down by 24%. However, the Commander was not the worst loser. The biggest loser was the Jeep Liberty which registered a 41% decline in sales. Slightly below the Commander is the Jeep Cherokee which declined by 22%. The Jeep brand had some face savers though. The Jeep Wrangler was the biggest winner with 63% increase in sales. Another winner, the Jeep Compass which made its debut in 2006 sold a promising 4, 071 units.

The name “Jeep” is synonymous with Off-Roading and Jeep is synonymous with Daimler-Chysler the company responsible for introducing Jeep to the world. The durable, dependable and fun Jeep has been around since World War II when the U.S. Army initially used it. The name Jeep gives one an instant image in their head but today that image has changed because the face of Jeep is varied. The tough off-roader is still atop the list however now soccer moms and business men pocess Jeeps as well.

Off-roading is brutal on a vehicle but the concrete jungle has its own kind of unforgiving terrain. Sitting in traffic on a hot August day, lengthy road trips, and hauling your boat or RV all take its toll. Because of this Jeep Parts have had to be produced as durable as the Jeep itself and some of the most reputable brands take pride in delivering high quality Jeep Parts. Jeep Parts from Bestop, Rugged Ridge, Pavement Ends, Mopar, Warrior and others are produced to last a long time. The demands of an Off-Roader compared to that of a Soccer Mom are completely different but that doesn’t concern Jeep parts manufacturers because they all produce Jeep Parts with the Jeep reputation in mind.

Jeep owners are not likely to settle for second best, they demand hard-working vehicles and because of thei their Jeep Parts and Accessories have to meet high expectations. Brands like Bestop have been around for over 50 years and they consistently deliver high quality parts. Online retailers like Morris 4×4 Center have been in the Jeep business since 1990 and stock over 30,000 Jeep Parts and Accessories. Their employees are true-blue Jeepers that enjoy the Jeep lifestyle. These are the kinds of companies that true Jeepers want to do business with.

As I mentioned earlier there are a number of different type of Jeep owners: the Beach Bum has the Jeep Bikini Top and surfboard in the back of the jeep. The Soccer Mom will have her Jeep filled with an active, adventurous family, and a business man may like to have his Jeep Grand Cherokee clean and in pristine condition with all the accessories. Jeeps too can be luxurious. In addition, the off-roader will be the die-hard Jeeper that’s loaded with Jeep accessories such as winches, high lifts, KC-Hilites and Monster Tires. Dirty inside and out but proudly wearing it like a badge of honor.

For the off-road Jeeper it’s critical to be equipped for anything that comes along while you are out wheeling. This, of course, means winches, steering stabilizers, lift kits, tires, lights, suspension and a lot more depending on the conditions you’re in. If your rig has the proper Jeep Parts and Accessories it will be turned into an all-terrain vehicle – your weekend amusement vehicle. And during the week when your Jeep takes you to and from work in heavy traffic it becomes the vehicle that you are the most proud of.

Jeep is an institution, a way of life, a state of mind and everything you want to make it, make it your own.

The first thing that many Jeep owners want to do is lift their vehicle. Lift kits are available that will raise the Jeep anywhere from an inch to over five inches depending on the intended use and, of course, amount of money available. These might be installed simply to allow clearance for over-sized tires, enhancing the Jeep’s appearance, or allow better offroading capabilities by providing more space between the bottom of the vehicle and whatever obstacles it may encounter on the track or off the road entirely.

As opposed to just lifting a Jeep, some owners may opt for adjustable spring spacers. These are great because they can be installed and adjusted without removing any suspension components from the vehicle, enabling the owner to increase ride height in minutes without sacrificing ride quality on longer trips. Good spacers will barely change the spring rate at all, even on stock springs. Spring spacers are often a cheaper alternative to installing a lift kit or taller suspension coils, though they may cost more in the long run as the stock coil springs and shocks may wear faster.

Control arms are another often swapped piece on the Jeep TJ. The aftermarket bushings on replacement control arms are often superior to those from the factory which means they will last longer and stay tighter. If a TJ owner has started noticing odd squeaking noises coming from the front end of their vehicle at every bump and dip, it’s fairly likely that their control arm bushings are worn out and need to be replaced. Adjustable control arms are also available, though some owners will choose to just have their control arms custom made to their own specifications.

After modifying the suspension of their TJs, all enthusiasts will eventually face the need to replace their shocks. From economy cars to pickup trucks, all vehicles eventually need a set of new shocks or struts, and Jeeps are certainly no exception. Although most aftermarket suspension parts will work with stock components, they will often cause them to wear faster. Shocks are especially prone to this as, when the Jeep is lifted, the shocks stay further extended than normal. Combine this with a Jeep owner’s tendency to drive in places where there is no pavement, and stock shocks can have a very short lifespan indeed. To address this, many aftermarket shops offer shocks of varying lengths that are designed specifically for lifted vehicles. This will improve the on-road ride of an already modified vehicle dramatically, as well as improve the Jeep’s characteristics off the road.

Since 1977 Rough Country has been in the Jeep parts suspension business. Their company is located in Dyersburg, Tennesse and is fully stocked with Jeep parts in their 75,000 square foot facility. Extremely competitive pricing and outstanding Jeep parts in addition to wonderful customer service and an intelligent staff puts this company head and shoulders above the competition. They sell suspension kits for 2 wheel drive & 4 wheel drive Jeep, Toyota, Chevy, Ford, Nissan, Dodge, and Scout trucks and SUV’s. Because of their wide variety of sizes and options they are able to put together a kit specific to each individual vehicle owner’s needs.

There are many companies that produce Jeep parts and Jeep accessories and many of them make suspension lift kits that range in price and quality. From Fabtech’s high end coil over kits with a price tag over $5,000 to Daystar’s budget boosts that cost under $200. Rough Country serves up the best of both worlds as they sell basic kits that include everything necessary, and the buyer’s can move-up later if they choose, or they can simply purchase a fully upgraded kit at the start! Rough Country’s lift kits span in price from the low $100s to over $2000 and are produced with the same identical Jeep parts of the other suspension companies at a much cheaper price.

John Ball from Morris 4×4 Center says, “As with all Jeep parts installing a lift kit can be a DIY project or it can be something that a professional needs to install. What needs to be considered is the style of the kit that you purchase and the skills you possess as well as your grasp of Jeep parts. The smaller 1″ to 4″ lifts can, in most cases, be installed in your driveway with a small amount of modification. The larger lifts, 5″ and up, will require a lot more elbow grease. Welding and drilling will be necessary to accommodate the larger parts on the bigger lift kits.

When a lift kit is being installed some Jeep parts may need to be adjusted on your vehicle. Keep in mind that a lift kit is a crucial part of an off-road Jeep because it allows you to use bigger tires. What’s great is that these lift kits are designed with quality components compared to the factory suspension. This enables you to flex and maneuver through the obstacle better. The upgraded suspension is also important in gaining higher ground clearance. When a Jeep is being put together for off-road use a major factor is going to be what kind of suspension is to be used because this will determine the size of tires to install. It also will affect the appearance of the Jeep based on its height. While there are numerous Jeep Parts you can obtain for your vehicle, a suspension lift kit will certainly be one of the most visually noticeable changes you make on your Jeep.
