I have a 98 tj with 7″ of lift with 33″x12.5 thornbirds and some other mods. The four cylinder doesnt have enough power. So i recently bought a wrecked 2002 grand cherokee with a I6 that im planning to swap into my tj. I can use everyhing off the cherokee. I have access to all the equipment to do any mods. My main problem is my tj has a manual and the cherokee is auto and im afraid of swapping the ecm and harness wont work. Can anyone tell me what problems i might encounter and parts that ill need.

My 99 TJ has a small lift and 33″ inch tires. I have read that this can lead to transmission strain and cause slipping. I need to know what to do with the gears to avoid any damage/lack of performance over time. Oh and it is an automatic with the 6cl 4.0L engine.

I am considering lifting my stock 99′ Jeep Wrangler TJ by either 4″ or 6″. It occured to me today that not only will the lift bring my height up but I will be adding new tires as well. 33″ for the 4″ lift and 36″ for the 6″ lift. As it stands right now I still have ~12″ of cleaance to get into my garage… Has anyone figured out what the actual change in height is so I don’t drive home and figure out my modified ride has to sit outside?

I Just had my jeep at the garage to replace my winter tires, while he was doing this he noticed that the shocks on the car are dead pretty much, they have been leaking for quite some time and all 4 need to be replaced.
He told me he would charge 500$ CAD for parts and labour, i did a bit of searching on ebay and i have found 4 shocks for a quarter of that price, for around 150$ CAD 50$ shipping. Would these shocks work well with my jeep? is it a reliable brand? One is called Monroe, and the other is called SkyJacker. Also my jeep is completey stock, no modifications.
heres the link, i have also found a second one cheaper…
Monroe

im not exactly sure what kind of shocks he wanted to put in, but i dont wana spend 500$ lol, so the cheaper the better

I’m adding my lift now, and I need to find the track rod, where is that located? I own a 2002 Jeep Wrangler TJ, with the Dana 30 front axle.
If anyone has a picture with discriptions of the axle parts that would be really helpful, thanks.
